This year’s Workforce Development Conference will be at Te Papa, the most-visited museum in Australasia and one of New Zealand’s iconic conference venues located on Wellington’s stunning waterfront, Te Papa is a ‘hop, skip and a jump’ from Wellington’s best restaurants and hotels.
For those of you travelling to Wellington to attend the Conference we’d like to quote for you one of our favourite local sayings “you can’t beat Wellington on a good day”. While you’re here we hope you have time to take a stroll around Oriental Parade, go kayaking or paddle-boarding on the harbour, or simply enjoy Wellington’s vibrant café scene.
After the success of the previous conference we will once again be at Te Papa – New Zealand’s iconic and innovative national museum located in the heart of Wellington’s beautiful waterfront. As well as being a six level museum, it is also a unique conference and functions venue that combines serious business with outstanding hospitality.

Called the world’s ‘coolest little capital’ Wellington is known for its vibrant arts scene, world class café and restaurant culture, and active outdoor lifestyle.
Did you know … Wellington enjoys around 2,000 hours of sunshine a year? – about 30% more than London and just a little less than Melbourne.
Being close to the sea keeps temperatures mild and in in November it will still be a little chilly: Average daily max: 15.5°C/60° F min: 9°C/48°F
We recommend wearing layers of clothing, and always carry a warm coat because it is true that at certain times of the year the wind can get a little wild.
Wellington is less than one hour’s flight from New Zealand’s main cities, and Wellington International Airport is just 20 minutes’ drive from the city centre. Three airlines – Air New Zealand, Qantas and Jetstar – fly directly from Australia and there are frequent domestic flights from all around New Zealand.
Find your way around central Wellington with ease using this downloadable Wellington Downtown Map [PDF, 1.72MB, 1 page]. The map includes central city accommodation, visitor attractions, conference venue locations and public toilets.
